Oh, homophobic MGS fans… what exactly are you doing playing some of the most homoerotic games ever made? I honestly don’t know whether to laugh or cry at some of the comments you get on those boards - sometimes it degenerates into the most disgustingly offensive attacks.

Where? Sure, Ocelot being gay is not confirmed in the series. Ocelot being in love with Big Boss, however, totally is (and when you combine that with his obvious crush-exhibiting behaviour in the game that even EVA comments on (which Big Boss was totally oblivious to), that would make him, you know, not straight).

What do these people want? Ocelot to flat out say, ‘Wow. Snake is totally dreamy. I am so in love with him. In a gay way. Did I mention I’m most likely gay, because I don’t appear to be confused or horrified by this revelation when I’m a young man in the Russian military in the sixties, and homosexuality was a criminal offense back then?’ every other line of dialogue? Kojima to interrupt the gameplay with a fireside video explaining that Ocelot is in love with Big Boss and it shapes all of his actions regarding the Patriots in the later games? See, this is why people entertain the idea so much; his feelings towards Big Boss massively affect his motivations throughout the saga.

First of all - ‘a gay’. Really, forum poster? Really?
Secondly - Gay men can’t ruthlessly kill/injure people? Oh, look: Ronnie Kray says hi.
Finally - When Ocelot grabbed EVA’s breasts in MGS3, it wasn’t remotely sexual. The first time, he seemed surprised to find breasts when he grabbed EVA’s chest. The second time - when he grabbed Tatyana - he recognised she was EVA as a result (which might sound a bit far-fetched at first, but given he was hardly gentle and EVA has had breast augmentation in the sixties, it’s probable he felt her implants).
Homophobic MGS fans, if you want to debate the issue, here’s a couple of handy reminders that you should have taped to your computer for reference:
- Rape is about power, not sexual attraction - please remember this the next time you claim that Ocelot can’t possibly be gay because it’s alluded to (kind of) that he raped Meryl.
- Being gay is a neutral characteristic - please remember this when you try to claim that Ocelot is too cool, competent, awesome or manly to be gay. You can be all of those things and gay, too. They are not mutually exclusive.
